Oenology Network Imprimer

puce The Oenology Faculty is involved in researches and formations exchanges program partnership (Erasmus, Atlantis, Cooperation agreement,). In this frame an oenology network has been create to develop research cooperation from vines to wine production and consumption.

To this end ten home Institutes with a long and established track record in research and formations have set up the Oenology Network. Partners develop works together in the field of viticulture-oenology with the aim to promote exchange in the field of Oenology, within the Network Oenology Institutes. The Oenology Network offers synergistic as well as complementary elements embedded in a modern research laboratories focussing grapes and wines quality in either of the ten home institutes:

puce The Network focus concerns: performing translational research from vines to wine (molecular, genomic, process and consumption approaches) in the context of climate change and sustainable viti-viniculture.

puce Several topics can be study in the frame of this network :

Plant biochemistry and metabolite regulation.
hormones during the maturation period.
microclimate around grapes.
exchanges between the plant and grapes in late harvested grapes.
Yeast microbiology and functional genetics.
Process optimization, fermentation kinetics, bio control agents.
Wine processing, fermentation chemistry, wine colour chemistry.raisin-internationauxAnalytical chemistry, wine analysis, and flavours chemistry.
Raisin, table, and wine grapes production.
Descriptive analysis methodology.
History and economics of winemaking.
Physiology of vine water stress.
Microbial ecology and genomics of lactic acid bacteria.
Breeding and rapid development of rootstocks with desirable traits.
Health and taste effects of phenolics and other components; vines genomics. Effects of water stress on vineyard performance.
Viticulture effects on wine grape quality.

Pr Andrew WATERHOUSE (University of California, Davis) has been made Doctor Honoris Causa of the University Bordeaux 2 the 18 of September 2009 in presence of the Board of University Bordeaux 2.

puce Several joint PhD are actually develop:

Armine Schuttler: Riesling and Sauvignon typical aromas.
Collaboration between Philippe DARRIET (Bordeaux) and Doris RAUHUT (Geisenheim) - 2008-2011.

Alvaro Gonzalez: Phenolics of grapes skins.
Collaboration between Laurence GENY (Bordeaux) and Edmundo BORDEU (Santiago) - 2008-2011.

In the frame of Hessen-Aquitaine co-operation a project concerning "oxygen permeability and closures" is developed between Pr Mietton-Peuchot  (Bordeaux) and Pr Christmann (Geisenheim). In this project Post-Doctorates have been engaged: Saturnin ADOUA - 2008-2011.

The OENOPRO group of the UMR 1219 Oenology should welcome for 6 months Reyes Gonzalez in September 2010 on the topics: “grapes phenolics antioxidants as wines sub-products”. Collaboration between Pr. P.L.TEISSEDRE (Bordeaux) and Pr. F.ZAMORA (Tarragona).
